There are similarities to alleys around the world. These similarities can help to unite most of humanity. This alley is in the Siberian city of Irkutsk, Russia. The building on the right is a house from the mid 19th century. This type of house is unique to Irkutsk, a stop on a trading route with China back in the day.
This is part of a series of drawings of Chicago alleys, drawn in India ink on Arches 300 pound hot-pressed water color paper with a Rapidograph pen. Coloring was done with Faber Castel Pitt markers. These markers use India ink which use pigment instead of dye ensuring color fastness and resistance to ultraviolet light.
This drawing is shipped matted and ready to frame as shown using archival materials.
